This process protects the precious metal from wear and scratches and gives it a fine shine. Care note: To maintain its flawless condition, the fountain pen should be cleaned about every three months. This is especially true if the ink has dried up due to infrequent use, the ink feed is blocked, a different ink color is to be used, or the ink flow is diminishing. For cleaning, lukewarm water without chemical additives is recommended. After cleaning, condensation may form in the cap. This can dissolve residues of dried ink, which may affect the color of the new ink. Therefore, the nib and cap should be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth. To prevent leakage, the fountain pen should always be completely filled with new ink and carried with the nib pointing upwards.
