Alcohol Interlock Device

Description

The BMW interface for Alcohol Interlock is a preparation for connecting a breath alcohol-controlled immobilizer. After a breath alcohol measurement, it prevents drunk drivers from starting the vehicle. The BMW interface for Alcohol Interlock fulfills the retrofitting of an interface for connecting an alcohol immobilizer required by EU Regulation 2021/1243 for all vehicles with a production date from 07/2022. The BMW interface for Alcohol Interlock in combination with the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device represents a complete solution for the customer. The BMW Alcohol Immobilizer is used preventively in passenger transport to minimize the risks of drinking and driving. In some countries, the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device can also be used as part of so-called "drunk driving programs" on a legal basis. If a driver is convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol, the court can order the installation of an alcohol immobilizer instead of withdrawing a driver's license. Please note: Only the interface is included in the scope of delivery. The BMW Alcohol Interlock Device is also required for the complete solution. This must be ordered separately.
