The specially designed Side Scuttles (decorative trim sets) have become indispensable for MINI. The standard components in the side turn signal are simply exchanged for the more individual Side Scuttles - and there they are, the special accents in the side view. The designs and materials are perfectly matched to the side mirror caps and complement them perfectly. The Side Scuttles are offered for the MINI Clubman (F54) in the following typical MINI designs and material variants: Union Jack, Black Jack, Night Jack, Chequered Flag black/white, Chequered Flag black/grey, JCW Chequered as well as JCW Carbon and JCW Stitched Carbon. -The side scuttles are available in various designs and materials and provide a visual highlight. -The JCW Carbon and JCW Stitched Carbon versions are made of real carbon. The advantages of the John Cooper Works air intake trim hood carbon at a glance: -innovative carbon look -manufactured by hand in an elaborate process -finely differentiated appearance thanks to hexagonal stitching pattern in the carbon fiber -multi-varnished and high-gloss polished -perfectly tailored to the design and geometry of the vehicle -compatible with other John Cooper Works components -simple installation through use of the standard clips Material information: The carbon surrounds are handcrafted. The cutting and draping of the fabric layers, the curing process of the plastic matrix and the milling of the raw parts takes several hours. The subsequent painting process poses a particular challenge. To enhance the unmistakable depth effect of the carbon fabric, the components are painted several times. Each individual coat of paint must be dried and then sanded. After the final coat of paint has been applied, the carbon part is polished to a high gloss (the open-pored carbon versions are an exception). The carbon components are qualified in accordance with the applicable BMW standard. This is the only way to ensure that the high requirements, e.g. with regard to aging and temperature resistance, are met without cracking or paint peeling from the substrate and that yellowing of the matrix is avoided. This high degree of manual work and qualification effort is responsible for the price.
