With the Flexible Fast Charger, all BEV (= Battery Electric Vehicle) and PHEV ( Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) vehicles can be charged quickly and reliably both at home and on the road at household and industrial sockets. It is the practical alternative to the permanently installed BMW Wallbox and the robustly manufactured, ergonomically shaped plugs fit comfortably in the hand. Changing adapters is simple and safe. The Flexible Fast Charger has a display of charging status, operating mode, error states. A variety of interchangeable adapters make the Flexible Fast Charger compatible with common international power outlets. It is equipped with coding, which automatically sets the maximum charging power for the adapter used. Optimal charging power is achieved without overloading the charging cable. The Flexible Fast Charger is compatible with all BEV and PHEV plugs in Type 1 (USA, Canada, Mexico) and Type 2 (CE countries). Charging powers of up to 11.0 kW (16 amps, 3-phase for CE countries) or 9.6 kW (40 amps, 1-phase for USA, Canada, Mexico) can be achieved at industrial sockets (vehicle and market dependent). The Flexible Fast Charger was developed according to BMW Group quality standards and international norms. The Flexible Fast Charger can be stowed in the vehicle in a crash-proof manner in the cable bag supplied. Existing sockets and new installations must comply with all national legal requirements. Make sure that the cables and sockets as well as the circuit breaker and fuse are designed according to the permanently applied maximum charging current. BMW recommends that the charger is only used on sockets that have a separate residual current circuit breaker that is not used for any other circuits. Any sockets and cables may only be installed, tested and maintained by appropriately trained, qualified and authorized specialist electricians. Ensure that the outlet used has adequate grounding.
